The Coronavirus crisis has caused catastrophe across almost every area of life and every industry – arguably none more so than the events and creative arts industries. To stop the spread of the disease, we were told to stay at home, and as we begin to ease the lockdown, it’s clear that it’s going to be a long time until we can go back to attending concerts, theatre shows, or other events. Whilst that’s sad for us as a volunteer, community group, it’s even more devastating for the thousands of people employed within the performing arts and events industries full time. That’s why we’re proud to launch Odiham Fest:

Holy Ridiculous will be live streaming a two hour variety event on Sunday 5th July 2020 starting at 3PM. We’re appealing for singers, dancers, and actors across the local area to come and take part – please get in touch with us if you would like to perform at the event. The only condition is that you must be able to perform your act in a way which complies with the social distancing regulations. We’ll also be showing pre-recorded material, so you’ll also be able to send those through as well.

The Coronavirus has also had an unprecedented economic impact. Odiham is home to many small, independent businesses, some of whom will have suffered terribly. That’s why we’re offering free ad-space throughout the event. If you’re a small business owner in Odiham, you can submit video adverts and messages to be broadcast throughout the event; the local community needs to support itself during these times – what better way than through free marketing?

Alongside the free marketing for local businesses, we’ll be running a fundraiser for the Acting For Others charity, who are supporting – both economically and also through mental health access – professionals in the theatre industries through this time.

Notes to editors:

Holy Ridiculous is an Odiham based amaetur dramatics society, who turn 20 years old in 2020. In normal times, we perform out of Mayhill Junior School. We perform pantomines, murder mysteries, variety shows and also run workshops in the local area. All profits raised from productions are donated to local organisations and charities.

This event will be executed and performed in accordance with The Health Protection (Cornavirus, Restrictions) England 2020 Act. For further details please contact us.
